This was worked decently as a pool shade but The stand/reservoir punctured easily allowing water to leak. A screw came loose on the pole connection causing the umbrella to not collapse.If you purchase this umbrella, make sure you get a cover. Purchased the red one and color faded in a month or two. Apparently No UV protection in the material. For $500 was hoping it would look nice longer than a couple months. Contacted Seller but no response.I have kept this umbrella outdoors all summer, and with custom tethers added, it has held up during rain and light wind. But you must keep diligent, as it is only meant for shade.Very easy and quick to assemble. Provides good shade for table and chairs. Unfortunately, to crank up the umbrella, the system winds up a rope that gets stiff and heavy for the last five inches of umbrella elevation. Better crank systems use a mechanical geared system and are much easier to operate with minimal effort.When we ordered the umbrella in July, it came without hardware (screws and bolts) to assemble the umbrella and attack it to its base. We received the hardware after lodging a complaint and everything has come together - and we have shade on our back patio. Thanks for responding to our concern!The Shade is sturdy and I really like way the cantilever system stays out of the way.Assembly. In general, it is straight forward. I do suggest using non-permanent Locktite on the threads to make sure they do not back off. The final part assembling by putting the umbrella into the base is a 2 man job. It is friggen heavy and awkward. I used a heavy duty ladder to balance the umbrella while slipping the assembly into the base. I do not recommend this!Also, I suggest you tighten all the bolts including the ones from the factory. 1 star removed because the main pin holding the umbrella to the cantilever arm (right at the top of the umbrella) came apart after 5 days. Fortunately, the string in the assembly was strong enough not to break. I found the screw on the ground and the pin in the pool. I was able to put it back together and used Locktite to make sure it doesn't back off again.Again, I recommend the product but check those screws and bolts.We now have a large patch of shade over our patio table and chairs. Love it! Assembly went quite well, even for this old (77 yo) who assembled it solo. I admit I didn’t fully follow the directions, but enjoyed the experience. Added 250# of play sand, so it’s pretty sturdy. Had to buy a wintertime cover separately, though.We’ve had this apart more than we’ve had it up. It just catches the wind constantly and rips out all the spokes. Even just a light gust of wind.When I spend $1500 I expect to get everything required to set it up!
